This course is designed to provide learners a clear method of training community organisations to create Forum Theatre performances which will raise awareness of the dangers of human trafficking. By doing this communities can make new decisions for their members, avoid being lured into modern slavery and lives can be saved.<\/p>\n
This manual is created for work with community members, not for professional actors. Although their theatrical skills may not be as refined as professional colleagues, their knowledge of the real effects of trafficking and of the people who are in danger will give them an added value in making strong, realistic and effective plays to start a discussion in their community. Finally these performances are agents of change as much as they are works of art. They are Art for Change.<\/p>\n
Of course, a five-day training period is rather short so please see this as the beginning of a journey. Once you have created your performances and you see the effects, you will have gained valuable experience, and you can deepen your knowledge and improve your theatre. \n
\nAs it is a five-day programme we have carefully planned that all the key elements you need are spread out over that period. By the end you will be ready to go out and meet your audiences and create a forum with them. \n
